The BRONCH Mentor is an innovative new addition to the Simbionix range. This simulator offers complete virtual reality training in flexible bronchoscopy, and is compatible with the established GI Mentor platform. Developed with bronchoscopy experts from around the world, BRONCH incorporates a variety of practice opportunities providing a complete bronchoscopic training curriculum consisting of essential skill tasks as well as full clinical procedures. The BRONCH Mentor meets the training needs of pulmonary and critical care physicians, anaestheologists and interventional pulmonologists, and covers procedures of either elective or emergency nature.

The GI-BRONCH Mentor from Simbionix is a combined paltform for virtual reality simulation training of GI endoscopy and flexible bronchoscopy. Either the GI Mentor or BRONCH Mentor can be purchased separately, but a combined unit offers an exceptional value-for-money training solution.

The Essential Bronchoscopy Module consists of specially designed basic skills tasks designed to improve users’ skills in key bronchoscopic capabilities including:

• 3D cognitive perception

• Detailed anatomical knowledge

• Safe and efficient performance

• Tool activation and manipulation

The Diagnostic Bronchoscopy Module allows users to practice basic bronchoscopies including visual inspection and various methods of tissue sampling. Users also learn to control and maintain the patient’s condition throughout the procedure with use of:

• Conscious sedation

• Topical anaesthesia

• Vital signs

• Level of consciousness

• Oxygen supplement

Users should avoid complications but can crucially also practice solving them upon occurrence.

Tools include:

• Biopsy forceps

• Cytology brush

• Aspiration needle

• Bronchi alveolar lavage

The Emergency Bronchoscopy Module allows users to identify and solve emergency and ICU situations requiring bronchoscopic intervention such as:

• Foreign object aspiration

• Hemoptysis
